This is Richard Pike. I am writing to ask if you could add Gary LaVorgna to your prayer list. He is the father of my platoon leader, 1LT Daniel LaVorgna. Lt found out today that his father has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is still undergoing tests to determine how advanced it is, but he is scheduled to have his prostate removed on Oct 3. We all know what kind of stress a family under goes during a deployment, and this is obviously not helping to ease their minds. Mr. LaVorgna lives in Ohio and so is not close to the support of our Family Readiness Group as most of the family members of our unit are in Alabama. Lt is a former military chaplain and has requested any and all prayer support he and his family can receive. I told him of your team of strong Christians who will be sure to remember him and his family.
I really enjoy getting the updates of what is happening around town as I sit here 2000 miles from home and I know they will be even more comforting as we get into the Middle East next week.
Let's also remember Richard and his unit (and their families!) as they travel to Iraq and begin their deployment!

This is now five years old, and I don't know if anyone is monitoring this, but I'm actually trying to reach Daniel LaVorgna and would be pleased if anyone with any idea of how to reach him could contact me via the address at my website, http://www.garychartier.net. I'd like to let him know about the death of an old friend, Elenor Webb.
